I am always looking for ways to replace enriched flour with whole wheat flour and this recipe does not disappoint! Made with finely sliced bananas, frozen berries, vanilla, eggs and milk.
Super simple, no sugar added, just a delicious, somewhat healthy breakfast!
My Family's favourite whole wheat waffle recipe
Ingredients
3 Cups Whole Wheat flour
3 eggs
6 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 canola or safflower oil
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp of vanilla
1 large banana finely sliced
1/2 cup of frozen berries
2 + cups of milk
Directions
Pre-heat Cuisinart Waffle Maker
Combine dry ingredients together and set aside. Finely slice bananas.
Add bananas and frozen fruit to the dry ingredients.
Whisk eggs in a separate bowl and add vanilla, oil & milk. Add wet ingredients to the dry and fold mixture. Add more milk if necessary.
Batter should be slightly runny but still thick, not super thick.
Pour batter into the middle of the waffle maker and spread out evenly. You want to make sure you do not over fill the griddle or it will overflow and make quite a mess. Lower lid and wait for the timer to go off.
The result? Gorgeous healthy waffles!
